The Disciple Making Movement | Stories of Transformation Inspired through Faith

Stories of Transformation Inspired through Faith

11 And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness. 14 Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit. 15 But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ. 16 From him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building itself up in love by the proper working of each individual part.

Ephesians 4:11-16 (emphasis added)

Despite what the media would like us to believe, we’re much more alike than we think—at least where it matters most. As believers, we stand together, driven by one love and one purpose: to glorify God and demonstrate the love of Jesus at every opportunity.

At 4africa, our heart is for those who feel forgotten. Our hope is that they may not only feel intimately known by God but also created on purpose, for a purpose. And your giving—through your faith—makes that possible.

Your Role in the Disciple Making Movement

When you give to 4africa, you pour into local pastors, church members, and small group leaders who bring the hope of the gospel to remote and at-risk communities in East Africa. Even from afar, you’re helping to build up the Church in Africa by supporting fellow believers.

Simon DBS Leader

Meet Simon, a man with an incredible heart for Jesus and an active member of the Disciple Making Movement (DMM) in his northern Uganda community:

“In the beginning, I was like a fruitless fig tree. But attending DMM opened my mind and gave me the confidence that I never had. I never had any experience with discipling people before, and I feel very blessed to partner with 4africa to make disciples and be fruitful. Today, I have the confidence to study and share the word of God with many people in my community.

God’s call is empowering. When I was asked to become the Disciple Making Movement Cluster Leader, I felt a bit scared and inadequate. But I decided to heed God’s calling, and today God has allowed me to expand my ministry through five Bible study groups. Through these groups, many are coming to personally know Jesus.”

Simon’s wife joined him in that calling, and she leads a Discovery Bible Study (DBS) of her own in a neighboring home, helping other women find empowerment, hope, and restoration through Jesus. Together, the couple is creating a mass movement of disciples in their community!

“No matter the challenges we face every day, we press on because we are encouraged in Colossians 3:23 to work at whatever we do with all our hearts, as working for the Lord and not people. I am grateful for 4africa’s partnership. Their regular visits are always energizing and encouraging.” -Simon

As Iron Sharpens Iron | Proverbs 27:17 in Action

Winnie DBS LeaderLike Simon and his wife, Winnie just needed a bit of encouragement in her faith. As a busy mother of two, she didn’t feel equipped to deepen her relationship with Jesus. She stuck to her day-to-day routine, not realizing God had incredible plans for her.

“I used to hear God’s Word being preached by pastors. Little did I know that I could become a messenger of God’s Word.

“After training with 4africa and getting the ministry tools I need, I can now lead a Bible study with confidence. I can read God’s Word on my own and feel God is talking to me directly and personally. I can now share God’s Word like never before!

Winnie with her DBS Group

“I have started a church group in my home where we attend services under the mango tree. We started two weeks ago and are planning for our Lord’s Supper and baptism. Already, four new members came as a family to the church, and many neighbors are excited about the local church. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to God for the transformation He has made in my life, family, and village.”

Natalia’s Testimony of Transformation

The transformation is contagious. Despite the challenges that come with life in rural Africa, Natalia knew there had to be so much more to life. Her only child was born blind, but she chose to see the blessings over the trials. When the 4africa ministry team invited her to join the Bible study in her community, Natalia went all in, wholeheartedly committing her life to Jesus and welcoming newfound hope. Jesus was the answer she had been looking for all along.

After attending several Disciple Making Movement sessions, she asked her husband if she could host a Bible study in their home. To her surprise (as they were not previously believers), he said yes!

Natalia DBS Leader“Every time we meet as a DBS group, I am encouraged to continue trusting God at all times. I now find my consolation and hope in the Lord.”

Now, Natalia’s prayer is that her husband will experience the same hope and grace found in Jesus.

“I give God the glory for transforming my life. Today, I feel happy in my heart and find fulfillment in the Lord.”

Will you join us in celebrating Natalia’s decision to follow Jesus and continue to pray for her family, her husband, and her growing Bible study group?
