William Ajionzi’s Story
When William Ajionzi first moved to Ijibia, he wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s not unusual for communities of different tribes and religions to live independently from one another in this region.
When William accepted a role with the Yumbe Town Council, he decided to rent a home in an unfamiliar community. Sometimes families leave their homes to flee danger, but very few leave their communities voluntarily to join another. However, God’s call for William far outweighed his fear and adherence to cultural norms. He packed up his family and went out boldly for Christ.
William told us,
“When I first rented a house in Ijibia Village in Yumbe Town, which was heavily populated by [people of other faiths], things were very difficult for me. I had no idea how to disciple nonbelievers!
It wasn’t until I got the opportunity to be trained [by 4africa] as a Disciple Making Movement leader that I had the confidence to approach my unreached neighbors with the word of God. With the help of my wife, I was able to reach out to some [who had never heard the gospel], and they accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior!”
4africa’s work intentionally provides opportunities to introduce people to Christ. While we care for physical needs by providing clean water, sanitation resources, and disease prevention, our side-by-side work and long-term partnerships allow us to demonstrate the love of Jesus and share the gospel. William found the perfect opportunity to minister to people of other faiths in his neighborhood when 4africa began drilling a fresh well there.
“We now have peaceful coexistence between the [people of other faiths] and Christians because of the well. Many times, we have been able to start a conversation around John 4:14, the scripture inscribed on the platform of our well. By explaining that Jesus is the living water we all need, we have helped our friends understand their spiritual need. So far, four people have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior through these interactions!”
A New Way to Share the Gospel | Radio Ministry
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our ministry team has been reaching out to the masses with prayer and words of encouragement from the Bible through radio ministry. This has also been an excellent platform for William’s Discovery Bible Group (DBG) which enables listeners to learn more about God’s Word and share their prayer needs.
William says,
“Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, we still listen to the radio talk shows conducted by the 4africa ministry team together and join in prayer. In fact, one of my newest DBG members, Martin, surrendered his life to Jesus through the radio ministry. I am excited to be paired with him for discipleship classes. We are determined more than ever to use this [pandemic] season to reach out to others for Jesus. Through DBS, prayer, and compassion, I am confident that many will come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
My prayer now is that God will lead me to the lost with his word and provide for those who are struggling both physically and spiritually in this season.”
